What Do You See? Birthday Contest!We all look at clouds, net curtains and woodchip wallpaper and try and make faces right? I know I do! With that in mind we bring you:
What Do You See?
Challenge: Take a look at one of these four photographs.

Then simply show us what you see! But here's the catch - it MUST be dA related!
Here is an example I did:

Rules and Guidelines

The deviation should be dA themed, as this is a birthday contest! For example, you may wish to include Fella, popular emotes, llamas, ninjas etc

You may NOT use the image directly.

Whichever shapes you see in the stock images should be translated as closely as possible in your finished piece. For example, the mountain in my example is the same shape as the wallpaper rip.

Myths and Legends: An Illustration Contest

The difference between Illustration and other art is something that many people aren't too sure about. Simply put, illustration is artwork that is created purposefully to communicate ideas, instructions or a narrative.

Telling stories is how we have learned for millenia. Cave paintings, Greek and Roman painted Urns and the Bayeux Tapestry are three excellent examples of early narrative illustration, and illustrations are still how people are taught all manner of things, from nursery to adulthood, learning everything from history to biology.

THEME - Myths and Legends

Wikipedia definitions of Myths, Legend and Folklore.

So an example of what would qualify:

Greek, Roman, Norse, Native American etc mythology, legends and folklore

Bible Stories (They come under folklore) and any other religious stories.

Urban Legends

Stories such as the Sirens, as they were legends told by sailors. Same applies to mermaids, Loch Ness monster, Yetis etc

Things that wouldn't:

Fairytales

Fanart

Your own stories - they must be pre existing, known stories.

Entry Guidelines

This contest is open to DIGITAL AND TRADITIONAL painting and drawing only. This is because those are the media that can be submitted to the DA illustration galleries.

Your entry must focus on the narrative. It can be in the form of a single illustration or a piece of sequential art or comic. It doesn't have to be the entire story, you can focus on one particular happening within the story. Manga is welcomed.

There are NO LIMITS on how many entries you can submit

Entries must be created for this contest, and submitted after Monday 29th June 12.01 am (GMT)
