Col•lage
1. A technique of composing a work of art by pasting on a single surface various materials not normally associated with one another, as newspaper clippings, parts of photographs, theatre tickets, and fragments of an envelope.

Collage, despite not being a popular art on deviantART, has played an incredibly significant role throughout art history and remains an important medium: Cubists such as Picasso, Braque and Gris used collaged materials including cardboard, brown paper and tickets in their paintings; Pop Artists including Richard Hamilton used collaged magazine and newspaper clippings to great satirical effect and the infamous DaDaists used collage to create absolute nonsense. Dada was arguably the most important art movement in art history, and most of it was done with collage or assemblage.
